I was the little boy standing beside my mom when she graduated from court reporting school. That photograph marks the beginning of a career that’s been part of my life ever since.
About thirty years later, I’m helping her explore how AI can support that same work. ECH Transcript Studio started with her transcripts, her feedback, and a simple question: could we make review easier without taking the judgment out of her hands?
Now we’re building ECH Transcript Studio together, as mother-and-son co-founders, for the court reporters and scopists who care just as much about getting the record right.

What files can I use?
Proofreading accepts .txt or .ascii exports up to 2 MB and .scopeit.json review backups. Audio scoping accepts an ordinary ZIP package under 250 MB containing one RTF/CRE transcript and its full recording, with saved audio analysis if available. Separate RTF, recording and analysis files also work. Native CAT backups and PDF transcripts are not supported.
Does ECH Transcript Studio change my original transcript?
No. Your original file on your computer stays unchanged. The corrected copy includes the suggestions you apply and any manual line edits you make. Pending or rejected suggestions do not change the download. Review the final copy before using it.
Can I close the app and come back?
Wait for “Draft saved on this device.” Reopen ECH Transcript Studio with the same signed-in account, browser, and device, then choose Resume under Recent drafts. These are browser recovery copies, not a cloud archive. Older drafts created before account association are kept but hidden; open a downloaded backup or contact support without sending transcript content. Clearing browser data, private browsing, storage limits, or using another device can make them unavailable. Download a review backup before leaving important work.
Where does my transcript go?
When you start AI checking, transcript text and confirmed case terms pass through our server to OpenAI’s API. Recordings and personal review notes are not sent with that check. Full review drafts are saved in this browser. Our server-side activity history stores identifiers, dates, counts, and status—not transcript text or filenames. What does it cost?
The invited self-service pilot is free; paid checkout is not active yet. Planned launch pricing: 150 free pages for every new account, then Starter at $19 a month for 300 pages, Pro at $49 a month for 1,000 pages, Heavy at $89 a month for 2,500 pages, or 8 cents a page with no monthly fee. You can also choose to pay 10 cents a page when your own invoice clears, up to 60 days later. Corporate plans are arranged separately. Published plans are not an active checkout or unlimited-use promise.
What is Done For You?
Our introductory service combines AI text review with a person checking every AI finding. It comes back in hours, not days: Standard (within 24 hours) is $0.50 per page, Priority (within 8 hours) is $0.75, Rush (within 4 hours) is $1.00, and Express (within 1 hour, up to 150 pages) is $1.50, with a $75 minimum. We work 7 days a week, weekends included. The clock starts when we confirm your job; jobs confirmed after 6 p.m. or before 8 a.m. Eastern may carry an after-hours charge, and very large jobs are confirmed before intake. It is not full word-for-word audio scoping or certification. Contact us without attachments first so we can confirm scope, data suitability, price, and handling arrangements.
